NNPC/IHRDC Foundation Skills Training program (FSTP)
IHRDC, a worldwide leader in oil and gas training, invited me to deliver project management training at the just concluded NNPC/ IHRDC Foundational Skills Training Program (FSTP) for new employees of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
I provided six (6) sessions of virtual training to over 640 employees from 2nd to 4th September 2020, on “Introduction to Project Management”.
The FSTP was a month-long intensive training program for Graduate trainees of NNPC. The aim of the program is to sharpen the skills of the new employees and to give them the requisite knowledge and skills necessary to perform efficiently in the oil and gas industry.
Topics I covered included:
- Project Management Fundamentals,
- Making the Project Team Work (Building High Performance Project Teams),
- Developing Project Schedule and Cost Baselines,
- EPC Contracting from the Owner’s Perspective,
- Contracts as Risk Management Strategy,
- Project Definition and Estimating Methods,
- Case Studies covering:
- Stakeholder Identification and Analysis with particular reference to the Nigerian Niger Delta,
- Personality Analysis to gain self-awareness for improved project team performance,
- Analogous Estimating.
